EU: ITALY – The Giorgetti Budget: An Empty Chamber And A Bill That Means More Debt, Higher Taxes, More Money For Weapons (?) And Lower GDP. Nobody Cares; We Are In Post-Democracy—The EU Has Destroyed The Italian Republic

The photo of Giorgetti in the empty Chamber is going viral worldwide; in other times, all hell would have broken loose, but by now the EU and the Judges have destroyed Italy. Giorgetti’s budget law is absurd: more taxes—or at least no cuts—more debt to buy weapons, more violations of EU rules, a higher deficit-to-GDP ratio, and zero GDP growth. Giorgetti is out of his mind.

But nobody cares.

Meloni, backed by the entire national establishment, criticizes Trump because he wants to end the war in Ukraine, make peace with Putin, and buy gas and oil from Russia—albeit only if US companies co-manage Nord Stream. Now, that is a very good move on Trump’s part, at least in this instance; yet Meloni opposes it. She doesn’t want the war to end or for there to be US-Russian co-management of Russian oil. I’m starting to suspect Meloni holds shares in some arms factory.

Members of Parliament are useless in Italy; the government dictates the law, yet the government itself has its laws dictated by someone else. Perhaps one day only the European Parliament will remain, or—even worse—the Italian Parliament will persist solely to guarantee salaries and pensions for a lucky, hand-picked bunch of slackers.

It’s disgraceful when I think back to the 1980s and how they used to argue over waste, the budget, and everything else: the Republic is dead. Parliament has become nothing but a racket for handing out perks and legal kickbacks to the chosen few. Moreover, nobody actually voted for having this kind of budget: more weapons, more debt, a higher deficit-to-GDP ratio, more taxes (or zero cuts), and no growth—yet the debt rises regardless of the lack of growth and high taxes. And nobody will vote for this in the next election. Instead, the talk will be about the veils worn by Muslim women—and about gay Muslim women. And they’ll make a big fuss about this, you know… Should gay Muslim women be deported? Would they force them to marry a male in a place where the Gay Mediterranean Patriarchy already exists and you don’t want one here? Was the Madonna submissive because she wore a veil? Can one say the Madonna wore a niqab? What is a niqab? A hijab? The niqab-hijab—I don’t know. Oh right… that black Islamic thing; the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows in my town actually has one, frankly, but I don’t care.

It feels like a joke; it’s clear that, at least in Italy, we are already in a post-democracy era. Maybe Germany will save itself if it leaves the EU—the AfD is polling above 30% nationally; they’re pro-Putin and against the EU and the euro. It’s possible they might save us; there are no heroes here—no Siegfrieds, and no Caesars.

The Italian economy makes no sense; we need to leave the EU.

As for Meloni’s Right’s and the Democratic Party’s passion for war and rearmament at any cost, it’s terrifying. Right now, only three parties oppose this mad rearmament: the Five Star Movement, that piece of crap “Futuro Nazionale” by Vannacci and Marco Rizzo’s “Italy Tomorrow” (though it’s still unclear if the latter will even make it onto the ballot). Together, they account for no more than 24% of the vote, and they play on opposing sides.

The Devil has won.
