RAI promotes lesbian and gay couples as if the appointments had been made by the LEFT; ergo Meloni does not want Vannacci in the Council of Ministers—continuing the pattern of saying one thing and doing another—and also seeks a “super” majority bonus to strip power from MPs

State Owned and Government Run Italian Public Broadcasting Company RAI

ITALY – You will have noticed, as I have, that even though the “Rightwing Government” made the appointments at RAI – the public broadcasting company – those little stupid celebrity ridden cultural programs keep promoting gay men and lesbians—and not just incidentally (like, say, a famous tailor happening to mention he’s gay), but systematically; entire segments are structured solely to promote same-sex couples, promoting lesbian couples as such.

And yet, the Center-Right stands for the traditional family, doesn’t it?

The Center-Right is entirely responsible for the RAI appointments; indeed, the TV news programs are all pro-Meloni—there is no opposition, no criticism of the government—yet otherwise, there is positive coverage regarding migrants, saving human lives, and gay and lesbian issues.

Meloni essentially “sold” a piece of RAI to secure her own position—to ensure there was no real opposition. Or is there opposition? Where?

This is why Meloni doesn’t want Vannacci in the Center-Right Coalition: she wants to keep saying one thing and doing another without anyone calling her out on it during a heated Cabinet meeting. I had already noticed that she appointed left-wing judges to the Constitutional Court, and now there’s this matter of the pro-Meloni RAI appointments (which boosted her personal international image—indeed, FdI’s numbers skyrocketed, while FI and Lega’s dropped), yet for the rest, RAI remains pro-migrant and pro-gay. And in fact, her government accepts migrants—both legally and illegally—while simultaneously making grandstanding gestures and posturing against Ceuta; that is Meloni.

The problem she has with Roberto Vannacci is that he isn’t Salvini; he isn’t inconsistent. If he were in the Cabinet, he wouldn’t let her say one thing and do another; he would insist on appointing genuine right-wingers to positions at RAI, at the Ministry of Defense, and so on. …and that would mark the end of the era of supplying weapons and money to Zelensky—a move advocated (albeit only in words) by Salvini, who nonetheless votes against what he champions, as Meloni, he advocates one thing and does another, I remember Jean-Claude Juncker once said “At a certain point, you must go there and lie”.

And this is precisely what Meloni wants to avoid: an end to the era of those who play dumb or turn a deaf ear. Hence the electoral law that grants a disproportionate advantage to a coalition polling at just 41%—artificially boosting it to 60% or even 65%. Since a majority remains 50%, the government would have to lose 15% of its coalition support before facing a government crises; conversely, with a reduced majority bonus (which is flawed anyway) or a proportional system, individual MPs hold more power—meaning a small group of rebels could topple the government. With the “super” majority bonus, however, the math suggests that a party like FdI or the PD could end up with enough Senators to govern almost alone, effectively telling their own internal rebels to go f* themselves.

If 41% turns into 65%, then 26% turns into 41%—meaning a party with 26% of the vote (within a coalition) secures 41% of the parliament seats. It is a disgusting system.

This law must not pass, and Meloni is precisely the person not to vote for; Conte and Rizzo are better than her, and—from a Catholic-Right perspective—so is Vannacci. Why should we vote for her? Because of migrants? Gay rights? Pant suits? Ukraine?

A proportional system with a reasonable electoral threshold is superior, both morally and politically.

Conte took in fewer migrants, and perhaps there were even fewer gay and lesbian people at RAI—or am I wrong? Meloni lies; that is her signature move: shameless, triumphant lying.
