So, trying to clarify the most followed by-elections in Italy, those of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in Reggio Calabria for Francesco Cannizzaro’s seat in the Chamber which remained empty because Cannizzaro was elected Mayor of Reggio and therefore resigned.
The situation is in favor of the Left even though the polls are as secret as the formula for the atomic bomb, BUT the CDX without Vannacci made the Campo Largo mistake when we elected the regional president: instead of nominating a big shot from Forza Italia or local FdI, it nominated this guy Fabio Roscioli who is a lawyer from Fininvest in Rome who speaks like someone who has nothing to do with Reggio and doesn’t even want to have too much to do with it, the local Forza Italia candidate is he is angry and left with Futuro Nazionale who promptly nominated him and is in fact Domenico Giannetta info here:

WHO IS GIANNETTA?
Domenico Giannetta (born in Reggio Calabria in 1970) is a surgeon with extensive experience in public administration. He has served as a councilor and group leader for the Municipality of Oppido Mamertina, a councilor and executive board member (assessore) for the Province of Reggio Calabria, Mayor of Oppido Mamertina, a metropolitan councilor, and a regional councilor. On March 31, 2020, he was declared a deputy of the Italian Republic, but on May 7 of the same year, he renounced the mandate to continue his work in the Regional Council. He is currently serving his fourth term in the regional legislature; in the most recent election, he was re-elected in the Southern constituency, securing 10,403 preference votes.
Until his move to Futuro Nazionale, Domenico Giannetta had been a member exclusively of Forza Italia, the party with which he built his political and institutional career in Calabria. He served as the party’s group leader in the Regional Council and held the same role within the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria administration. In 2026, his name was among those considered for the candidacy to fill the seat vacated by Francesco Cannizzaro, but Forza Italia ultimately chose Fabio Roscioli, the party’s national treasurer and a lawyer for Fininvest.

I’m not voting in this by-election because it’s not in my constituency, but if I were to consider whom I’d vote for, I might end up choosing Benedetto—the left-wing cardiologist candidate who works at the Reggio Calabria hospital infos here—simply because nothing really changes anyway, and Vannacci is dangerous and crude. He gets a kick out of doing “AI stripteases” featuring “Madonna Matilde Siracusano”; he’s the type who might even save you but then demands the right to call you a bitch because he did so. Sure, two or three of his proposals are good, but then he wants to force you to swallow two or three bitter ones—the kind of punishment you’d get in the barracks. It’s as if he were saying: “What do you want? I saved you from the war with Russia, from high fuel prices, and from Muslims, and I can’t even call you a whore? Or strip you naked online and ban abortion—from the moment of conception?” It’s a return to the patriarchy and not “Italian Patriarchy” but even “Mediterranean Patriarchy” which is even worse—complete with fascist salutes mixed with the catholic sign of the cross. Sorry, but I’m not taking it, I’m not voting for him: he doesn’t make me cry and he doesn’t make me laugh: this snake must be killed in the cradle, you don’t wait for him to become a Tyrannosaurus.
In any case, the fact that I’d vote for Benedetto in this local election doesn’t mean I’d vote for Schlein in the general election; there, I’d vote for either Rizzo or Conte—period. I oppose weapons and the war with Russia, and those candidates are against it too and don’t create the kind of cultural cesspool Vannacci does with his “MSI-after-job at the railways’-club” masquerading as a political party. As Manzoni said: “He who does more than his duty believes he can also do more than his right.” We disagree. Vannacci may well be doing more than his duty, but he must not do more than his right.
Toscano is also on the ballot for DSP, but it’s that Francesco Toscano—and after he kicked us out of DSP with a boot up the ass, I wouldn’t vote for him either.
According to the Pagnoncelli poll, the Center-Right and Center-Left are neck and neck even with Vannacci in the mix; without him, the Center-Left wins, but with him, it’s a tie. I’m hoping Rizzo makes it onto the ballot and gathers his four hundred thousand signatures so I can vote for that little party dedicated to leaving the Euro and just have some peace—Rizzo doesn’t go around insulting people, he’s a straight guy but not offensive. After all, Giannetta left FI because he was scorned that, instead of running him as a candidate, Forza Italia imposed that Fininvest guy from Rome; that’s why he switched to Vannacci—it wasn’t about abortion or the Russians—and I simply don’t want to vote for DSP.
We’ll see how it plays out; Vannacci’s votes will be combined with those from Vigevano—which is in the North—so it’ll average out. To maintain that 8% or 9% average National in Reggio he’d need to get 4% here, since he got 14% in Vigevano; if he gets much more than that also here in the South, then FN’s national average is wrong. As someone once said: even they don’t believe FdI is actually at 26% anymore.
Benedetto won’t cause any trouble. And Meloni deserves to be kicked out; it stings her so much that she attended a technical institute or a hospitality school—whatever school she actually went to—that she ordered tot eh Education Secretray all technical institutes to be renamed “Licei” [preparatory high schools they are not]. She’s crazy. Enough is enough.
